About Kate Aishton
Kate knows how to manage legal risk while building something great.
Washington, DC
In Washington, DC, Kate fell in love with the Internet and spent a summer researching telecom markets for the Federal Communications Commission. She produced leadership roundtables on wireless spectrum policy and network neutrality at the Aspen Institute and served as Chief Operating Officer of national platform for personal stylists headed by a reality television legend (yes, the stories are good). At Georgetown Law, she earned her JD and then immersed herself in financial technology and privacy at Buckley Sandler, LLC. That role led to a two-year stint in New York with the mobile wallet company Isis in 2011, which was renamed shortly thereafter.
Bay Area, CA
Since 2014, Kate has been advising executives, product teams, and engineers in the Bay Area. Over eight years as product counsel for Instagram and Facebook, Kate has wrangled legal risk ranging from European regulatory investigations to IP and competition concerns. She led Instagram's legal teams covering privacy engineering, algorithmic ranking and machine learning, private messaging, and major launches including Stories, Reels, and NFTs. At Facebook, she created scalable contract systems and integrated new adtech acquisitions. She now works with clients across industries to mitigate risks related to their collection, use, and sharing of data and content.
